An unforgettable day - Cold water diving alongside large colonies of friendly seals, sharks, and rays :)

Australia is well known for its wildlife and people here protect and live closely with many wild animals. Sometimes, roads are closed in the late afternoon or evening so penguins can walk back home from the sea. Kangaroos can suddenly appear from the forest and cross the road. The city birds are not shy that they often try to steal ice cream from your hand in the city.

I’ve been to Australia many times for work and travel, but until in 2024 (I just started diving since 2000) - I went diving for the first time and was truly surprised by how diverse the marine life is. I stayed in Sydney and went snorkeling at beaches around the city. Later, I traveled South to Narooma…

It felt like a game as we had to turn around our heads in all directions to follow their movement. The water was cold, around 20–23°C, so we needed a 5 mm wetsuit, also a hood and gloves. Luckily, the boat had warm salted water bump from the sea, which really helped us warm up between the two dives. In the freezing cold water, with visibility of up to 20 meters, I was quite busy with all kinds of Fiddler Ray, Blue Grouper, Wobbegong shark, Moray eels, Stingray, Port Jackson shark, specially the seals..
